Hokkaido - Honey Moon Dream Destination

About Hokkaido

Hokkaido is the most northern island of Japan lying between longitude 41°21' and latitude 45° 33' North . It has a total area of approximately 83,451 square kilometers and accounts for about 22% of the total area of Japan while accommodating only about 5% of the total population. This means means it has large areas of pristine wilderness and ample area for farming and agriculture. Hokkaido boasts six national parks, five quasi-national parks and 12 prefectural parks. The combined area of these parks is about 10% of the total area of Hokkaido.

Note: Itinerary areas circled in blue

Originally inhabited by native Ainu, Hokkaido's development began in 1869 with the establishment of the Colonization Commission. Over the past 136 years Hokkaido has seen significant development and population growth, with the capital of Sapporo now being the fifth largest city in Japan. Fisheries and agriculture have been the foundation of Hokkaido's growth.

Hokkaido has a relatively cool climate compared to the rest of Japan. Spring sees abundant amounts of flowers and grasses bloom. Summer is generally mild and pleasant, with little or no rainy season and all flowers and trees are in full bloom. Autumn is cool and offers the wonderful attraction of trees in autumn colors of various shades of red, yellow, brown and gold. This is an especially beautiful time to consider hot spring tours, as most hot spring hotels will have out door bath areas to sit and take in the amazing colors. Winter can be very cold with large amounts of snow falling during the winter season, especially along the Japan Sea coast. This is a great time for skiers, snow boarders and other winter sports lovers to consider holidays. There is also the world famous Sapporo Snow and Ice Festivals with hundreds of sculptures on display.

Niseko Yotei Mountain Summer View is located about two and a half hours drive from Sapporo or about two hours from Chitose. There are some places to visit in Niseko but it is better known for it’s sporting activities. The town has an estimated permanent population of 4,642 people and a total area of 197.13 km2. The population figure however, changes markedly between seasons as the town has a highly transient population of visitors that come mainly for the summer or winter.

Niseko is situated between two mountains, Yotei-zan to the east and Niseko Annupuri to the west. The Matsukari River encloses the town to the Niseko Train Stationnorth. There are two main train stations, Niseko station and Hirafu station. One of the larger and more popular sections of the skiing area is Mt Hirafu, however many times it may be more convenient to catch a train to Niseko Station and get a bus from there. Niseko can definitely be called the sports capital of Hokkaido. During the winter Niseko is a ski / snow boarders paradise with large amounts of some of the best quality snow in the world falling. Also on offer are ice-climbing, snowshoeing and dog sledding trips. During the late spring, summer and autumn Niseko is a hiking and rafting mecca for nature lovers. This period also offers canoeing, kayaking and camping opportunities. Niseko is also very popular throughout the year for its large number of onsens (hot spring baths).

The pleasures of 2011 BMW 325i flow almost entirely toward the driver, not the passengers, from an epicenter located near the midpoint between the clutch and the gear lever. The clutch hooks up like velvet, right where you think it should. The shift lever stirs cream. The right pedal tapers up the power, so easy and natural to control. You make smooth, expert shifts the first time you drive. 2011 BMW 325i never stops flattering. And that’s the story of its handling, too. This car flows over the back roads, like a liquid following the contours of the road. Instantly, you’re a great driver. Up-and-down suspension motions are so perfectly damped they almost escape notice. Body roll is controlled, a liquid that never sloshes. Pour it on. You have a stable platform from which to give your best. And the steering, the brakes, and the clutch and shifter convey your messages to the machinery exactly as you intend them. The seats are covered in vinyl.

Engine sound, a smooth hum, is always present, particularly at interstate speeds. It’s accompanied by wind roar that is louder than average. Torque is a bit weak, lower for 2001 than for last year, reduced in exchange for 14 extra horsepower, up to 184 now. The rear cargo cover is nicely designed with a vinyl panel that easily slides out and hooks into place to hide valuables. Alternatively, a net slides up and hooks onto the ceiling to allow cargo to be piled to the ceiling. With the dog fence in place, The 2011 BMW 325i can carry 25.7 cubic feet of cargo and four passengers. That’s more than twice the 10.7 cubic feet of cargo the sedan can handle. That makes the wagon a much better choice at the airport, though it doesn’t have the cargo capacity of an SUV or minivan. For more cargo space, it’s easy to fold the wagon’s rear seats down; there’s no need to remove the headrests. This reveals a nearly flat cargo area. There’s enough room for two people involved in outdoor activities.
